When Will Schools Reopen in Sindh? Extended Summer Vacations 2024

KARACHI: Due to the region’s hot and muggy weather, the Sindh Education Department has decided to prolong the summer break for schools till August 14.  Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the minister of education for Sindh, gave the provincial authorities the order to make the decision. According to a statement about the extending of the school holidays, Sindh’s new academic year will now begin on August 15.

In light of the persistently bad weather in the area, the relief was provided to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of the teaching staff and pupils.  The province administration of Sindh normally closes schools in the summer, when temperatures frequently rise beyond 40°C. Children could die from heat-related ailments including heatstroke and dehydration as a result of these high temperatures.

The notice read, “In light of the heat wave and anticipated monsoon rains, the summer vacation is hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department until 14.08.2024 in continuation of this department’s Notification of Even Number dated 21.05.2024 and in pursuance of decisions taken in the Sub-Committee of Steering Committee Meeting.”
